Tirante v Fils
Tirante came back and cashed our ML yesterday after selling the last service game of the 1st set in irritating ass fashion. His serve was great again and his mentality is impressive right now, so fair play to him, man. But he runs into a top-tier calibre opponent today in Mr. Fils.
Fils is finally back and playing great tennis again, which is great for him but also for the sport — he is exciting, young, and extremely talented. If he stays fit and injuries do not take his career from him, he has a chance of winning a Grand Slam in the future. He will see this as an opportunity to reach a Masters final, with the only Masters 1000 winner left in the draw — Taylor Fritz — leaving Cincy for the taking.
I would not dare try to call this one, but Fils has been prone to long matches, and combined with how Tirante is serving, this is what we have today:
Set 1 Over 9.5 Games @ 8/11 (Bet365) — 1.75u
Set 1 Over 12.5 Games @ 3/1 (Bet365) — 0.25u
Rocha v Hurkacz
Hubi has not been playing well recently — on the hard courts, or even all season by his standards. His serve-bot style leads to closer games even against weaker opposition, because he can be a little flat-footed moving side to side:
Rocha +4.5 Games @ 5/6 (Bet365) — 1u
Hubi is in this Challenger to prep for the US Open, so I do not really see him losing here. But 4.5 games for someone who does not blow people out (hasn't covered 4.5 in his last 4-5) against Rocha, who usually keeps his matches close (covered 4.5 in his last 5), is worth the price.
3-Match Parlay
Safiullin v Wawrinka
Wawrinka, prone to long matches, hasn't played well recently. Safiullin, coming back after some time off, looked good in his first match. Both are in US Open prep-mode and hoping to maybe make some noise — especially Stan, as this will be his last one. I favour Saf tonight, but I think both are going to give a good effort.
Magadan v Wong
Wong loves these tournaments — he is a Challenger monster and has been having a good year, maybe his best one. He has been great on the hard courts and is picking up speed for the US Open. Frankly, he is of a higher calibre than Magadan, who has done well to beat a couple of fellow Mexican countrymen to get to this stage of the tourney.
Lloyd Harris v Pablo Llamas Ruiz
Another Challenger king. Lloyd has been great on the hard courts, and this surface favours him hugely in this matchup. I also think he feels he can go deep in this tournament, which would be good for him against this field of competition — higher than most because of the proximity to the US Open.
